“The Pit” at VMS survives Mother Nature to the delight of the competitors and fans

Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosted the second of three Mud Bog and Mud Sling this Saturday August 22nd presented by Rappahannock Tractor, Chandler Chevrolet and ORI of Richmond to a very wet crowd and large field of competitors. But the downpours didn’t deter a nice crowd and the 109 competitors that made it out to The Pit at VMS. The rain did have keep the X an XX Mud Dragsters form making any runs as officials deemed it unsafe for the classes to run.

Overall 109 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit.

Winners in each class: Stock A – Ron Marshburn in Kwikee 2; Stock B – Troy Royston; Modified A – Chris Chance in Mr. Nasty Time 2; Modified B – Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time 2; Modified C – Chuck Engel in Mud Life Crisis; Unlimited Bog – Floyd Stephens in Mud Deer.

The remaining event at The Pit at VMS is scheduled for Saturday October 3rd.

The Pit at VMS is located on the grounds of Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway and is situated on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA. The Speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
