Jamaica, VA – What looked to be a rainy day turned into a great afternoon for mud bogging at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 5th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment, the Virginia National Guard and RedNex Sporting goods set records in both fan attendance and competitor participation. The event was also sponsored by Monster Energy Drinks, Kalbones Speed Shop & Offroad, Aaron’s, Collision One, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, ORI of Richmond and Truckin Thunder.

The huge crowd was treated to some great action in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. The day of setting new records also spilled over to the competitors, as several division records were broken during competition. In the After Hours Fabrication Stock B class Tanya “Mudiva” Ricks in Hell on Heels set a new class record with a pass of 5.703 seconds, breaking a record that has stood since 2008. In the Kalbones Speed Shop & Offroad Modified B class Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas set a new class record with a run of 4.270 seconds, besting a record that had set in 2010. In the new Monster Energy Drink Pro Mod B class Ricky Crowder in Muddy Money set a new track with a pass of 4.313 seconds. Tanya “Mudiva” Ricks also became the first woman to break the 5 second mark with a pass of 4.933 seconds in the Monster Energy Drink Pro Mod B class becoming the “Fastest Woman” at The Pit.

Overall 108 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 236 registered passes.

Winners in each class: Super Stock A – Ronnie Coates in Doin it Dirty; Super Stock B – Tanya Ricks in Hell on Heels; Modified A – Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas; Modified B – Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas; Pro Mod A – Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas; Pro Mod B – Ricky Crowder in Muddy Money; Unlimited Bog – Ethan Brantley – Cold Mudded; X Class – Frank Embrey in Tadpole Express; and XX Class – Chris Newton in Hostile Projectile.

For the first time the Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill” Double Down Bonus was offered for anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified and Pro Mod divisions. Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas was able to take home the $500 bonus by winning both classes in the Modified division.
