16th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog Huge Success

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature tried to put a damper on the last event of 2023 at Virginia Motor Speedway. Still, Mud Bog competitors and fans showed out in big numbers for the 16th annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog, presented by Breezeline and WhosYourDriver.org. The event was also sponsored by Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Gary’s Transmission, After Hours Fabrication, Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers, Truckin Thunder, and Virginia is for Racing Lovers (VA Tourism). The enthusiastic crowd witnessed some incredible runs in the head-to-head Premier Mega Truck Racing Series mega trucks and the mud bog hill-n-hole pit. In one of the best events in history at the state-of-the-art facility, two division track records were broken in spectacular fashion. In the After Hours Fabrication Pro Mod division, the track record was broken three times at one event, all besting the old track record of 3.844 seconds held by Michael Sutphin in O.G. Highroller. First, Sutphin in O.G. High Roller lowered his own record with a pass of 3.819 seconds. Next, Donnie Miller in Black Truck broke the record with a pass of 3.789 seconds, and finally, Chris Bradshaw in Fast Money broke the record with a highlight reel pass of 3.683 seconds. Jamaica, VA – Just when you think you witnessed the biggest event in the facility’s history, The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway steps it up one more notch on the excitement meter. To say officials are excited and anxiously awaiting the running of the 16th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog, presented by Breezeline and WhosYourDriver.org, would be an understatement. The Pit is bringing the Premier Mega Truck Racing Series back for some intense head-to-head mega truck racing action, and it will be bigger and better than in May. The Premier Mega Trucks will be racing side-by-side in a bracket format on the short course. Some of the biggest names in the business will be on hand to see who will become King of the Pit. Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hit the trifecta this past Saturday with great weather, a huge crowd, and an overflowing pit full of competitors for the 18th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by Estes Express Lines and Breezeline. With the cool weather, horsepower was at a premium, providing the fastest-ever mud bog in the eighteen-year history of the facility with six new division track records. Winners in each class: King of the Superstreet Mud Series (Super Stock A) – Brad Hall in Rampage; Super Stock B – Mike Braswell in Henry; Modified A – Blake Webb in Plan B; Modified B – Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas; Pro Mod A – Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas; Pro Mod B – Charlie Wood in Mudweiser; Unlimited Bog – Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas; Meg Truck – Gary Sabella in Old #6. Six drivers broke track records in their respective classes. Four of the records had stood since October of 2017, one from 2018, and one from 2019. The new track records that were broken belong to Brad Hall in Rampage in the Super Stock A class with a 5.268-second pass; Mike Braswell in Henry in Super Stock B with a 4.377-second pass; Blake Webb in Plan B in the Mod A Class with a 3.559-second pass; Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas broke two records the first in Mod B with a 3.770-second pass and also in Pro Mod A with a 3.869-second pass; and Charlie Wood in Mudweiser in Pro Mod B with a 3.457-second pass. Jamaica, VA – Officials for The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway have released the 2020 mud bog dates. The 17th annual Mud Mayhem will be held on Saturday, May 1, which is two weeks earlier than in previous years. The Run-A-Muck Mud Bog will once again be on the first Saturday of October, which is October 2. The Cameras of MAVtv will be on hand to film for two Lucas Oil On The Edge shows. “After such a terrible 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic we are excited to be getting back to hosting mud bogs. We wanted to make sure our competitors and fans could mark their calendars for 2021 and be ready for what is going to be another great year of mud bogging,” commented track GM Clarke Sawyer. With 100% chance of heavy rains forecast and the low pressure system sitting directly over Virginia, officials determined that for the safety of competitors and fans alike it was best to cancel the event. “Words can not describe how disappointed we are with having to cancel tomorrow’s event, the facility was prepped and ready for what we felt was going to be a record breaking day. Jamaica, VA – Officials of The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway have released the 2016 rules package and payouts for each division. With the first mud bog scheduled for Saturday May 21st the excitement level is rising. New for 2016 will be the addition of the Unlimited X Tractor (Mega Truck) division that will be the first division to run a short course at each event. The new division will pay the top three competitors with the winner taking home $1000, second getting $500 and third taking home $250. All three divisions will also take home trophies. Entry fee will be $60 / person driving the truck with a maximum of two drivers per truck. Three divisions will receive pay increases for 2016. The Unlimited Bog division will now pay $1000 for first, $500 for second and $250 for third. The entry fee will be $60. Both the X and XX Dragster divisions will also get pay increases more with both divisions paying $1000 for first, $500 for second and $250 for third. Entry fee for each division is also $60. Jamaica, VA – The 11th Annual Down & Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports drew a huge crowd out for what turned out to be an amazing day of racing. The event saw three division records broken during the days competition. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Middlesex Metals, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. The enthusiastic crowd was treated to some incredible runs in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. After having four records broken during the June 20th Mud Mayhem Mud Bog no one expected to see multiple records tumble again. But when the day was done three division track records were broken with each one coming with a $100 bonus courtesy of the E&E Caulking sponsored Tapole’s Break the Record Challenge. In the Aaron’s Pro Mod B division Denny Kerley in Snoot set a new record with a run of 4.079 seconds. In the Down and Dirty Unlimited Bog division the record was broken three times with Denny Kerley in Snoot setting the final time with a 3.514 seconds. New York’s Kelly Odell in Under Pressure returned from his record setting runs during the June mud bog to lower the record once again in the James River Equipment X Cut division with a blistering 2.089 second run. Overall 86 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 172 registered passes. Winners in each class: Super Stock A – Derek Adkins in Bad Mannerz; Super Stock B – Kyle Slaughter in Step-A-Side; Modified A – Trey Moody in Barely Legal; Modified B – Brian Vick in Pick Pocket; Pro Mod A – Kevin Click; Pro Mod B – Denny Kerley in Snoot; Unlimited Bog – Denny Kerley in Snoot; X Class & XX Class – Kelly Odell in Under Pressure. No one was able to collect on the Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill” Double Down Bonus that was offered again to anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified or Pro Mod divisions. Tonya Ricks in Dancin’ with the Devil won the Mud Book Crown presented by Kings of Mud and The Metal Shop. Her combined times in the Unlimited Bog division for both mud bogs was 7.398 seconds was 1.62 seconds better than her nearest competitor. Ricks received $750 and one of a kind trophy. Jamaica, VA – A hot and humid afternoon led to some great mud bogging at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 8th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment saw four division records broken during the days competition. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Kalbone’s Speed & Off Road, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. The great crowd was treated to some incredible runs in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. The day of setting new records also spilled over to the competitors, as several division records were broken during competition. In all four division track records were broken. Heading into the competition E&E Caulking sponsored the Tapole’s Break the Record Challenge which paid out an additional $100 bonus to break a record. In the Aaron’s Pro Mod B division Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time set a new record with a run of 4.211 seconds that ended in a spectacular crash at the end. Crowder would emerge unhurt. In the Down and Dirty Unlimited Bog division The Pit’s “Fastest Woman” proved again she is fast with a record setting 3.802 second run. The James River Equipment X Cut and Victory Lap XX Paddle dragster divisions were dominated by New York’s Kelly Odell as he set the fastest pass ever in the history of The Pit with a 1.987 second run in the XX Paddle’s. He also broke the X Cut record with a run of 2.267 seconds. Overall 68 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 156 registered passes. Winners in each class: Super Stock A – Neil McClanan in Never Enough; Super Stock B – Kyle Slaughter in Step-A-Side; Modified A and B – Tonya Ricks in Dancin With the Devil; Pro Mod A – Spence Messick Jr. in Mud Runner; Pro Mod B – Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time; Unlimited Bog – Tonya Ricks in Dacin With the Devil; X Class & XX Class – Kelly Odell in Under Pressure. The Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill” Double Down Bonus was offered again to anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified or Pro Mod divisions. Tonya Ricks in Dancin with the Devil was able to take home the $500 bonus by winning both classes in the Modified division. Tonya Ricks also picked up a $100 bonus from Guthrie and Sons Heating & Cooling by having the fastest time in After Hours Fabrication Mod A competition.
