Multiple Records Fall During 10th Annual Mud Mayhem Mud Bog

Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosted the first of two Mud Bog and Mud Sling’s for the 2017 season this past Saturday May 20th. The Mud Mayhem Mud Bog presented James River Equipment, Commonwealth Motorsports and Essex Concrete and in part by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder drew a huge crowd and great field of competitors at the state of the art mud bog facility in Jamaica, VA. The sunny temperatures and sunny skies provided a tremendous day for mud bogging. 68 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 146 completed passes. Winners in each class: Super Stock A – Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty; Super Stock B – Tracy Hare in Twisted Jiblet; Modified A – Blake Messer in Whiskey Bent; Modified B – Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas; Pro Mod A – Spence Messick Jr. in Mud Runner; Pro Mod B – Lee Sturgis in The Grey Ghost; Unlimited Bog – Colton Shell – Big Bad Wolf; Unlimited X Tractor – Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells; Obstacle X – Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells; X Cuts – Dale Ellenberger in Touch of Madness; and XX Paddles – Dale Ellenberger in Touch of Madness. Katie King in Pure Aggravation took the top Nitrous/Non-blower bonus in the X Cut class and Frank “Tadpole” Emory took the top Nitrous/Non-blower bonus in the XX Paddle class. For compete results click here. Four track records were broken during the day’s events with each scoring a $100 bonus in the Tadpole’s Break the Record Challenge presented by E&E Caulking. In the Super Stock A division Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty set a new division track record with a 6.308 second pass, breaking a record that had stood since 2008. In the Super Stock B division Tracy Hare in Twisted Jiblet set the new division track record with a 5.071 second pass; the previous record was set back in 2014. In the Mod B division Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas lowered the record he has held since June of 2014 with a 4.305 second pass and in the Pro Mod B division Lee Sturgis in The Grey Ghost set the new division track record with a 3.991 second pass besting the previous record set in October of 2015. Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hit the Trifecta this past Saturday with great weather, a huge crowd and an overflowing pit full of competitors for the 12th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One, Mud Book, Kings of Mud, The Metal Shop and Truckin Thunder. Overall 102 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 221 registered passes. The day also saw the successful introduction of two new divisions with Mechanicsville, VA’s Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells taking the win in Unlimited X Tractor and King William, VA’s Ray Adkins in Haulin’ Gas taking the win in Obstacle X. Both divisions were the first to run a short course for time. The Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill” Double Down Bonus was offered again to anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified or Pro Mod divisions. It happened twice with Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty taking both Stock classes and newcomer Charlie Wood in Mudwesier taking the win in both Modified classes. Each driver received a $500 bonus for being the “King of the Hill”. The Mega Maniac Challenge presented by Northern Neck Chevrolet offered a $1000 bonus to the winner of the new Unlimited X Tractor and it went to Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells. His first ever win in the class was worth $2000 total. The Mud Book Crown presented by Kings of Mud and The Metal Shop this year offered the winner of the Unlimited Bog division a one of a kind trophy and a $750 bonus. Jamaica, VA – Due to the forecast for Saturday May 21st officials of The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway have canceled the 9th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. With 100% chance of heavy rains forecast and the low pressure system sitting directly over Virginia, officials determined that for the safety of competitors and fans alike it was best to cancel the event. “Words can not describe how disappointed we are with having to cancel tomorrow’s event, the facility was prepped and ready for what we felt was going to be a record breaking day. Jamaica, VA – The 11th Annual Down & Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports drew a huge crowd out for what turned out to be an amazing day of racing. The event saw three division records broken during the days competition. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Middlesex Metals, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. The enthusiastic crowd was treated to some incredible runs in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. After having four records broken during the June 20th Mud Mayhem Mud Bog no one expected to see multiple records tumble again. But when the day was done three division track records were broken with each one coming with a $100 bonus courtesy of the E&E Caulking sponsored Tapole’s Break the Record Challenge. In the Aaron’s Pro Mod B division Denny Kerley in Snoot set a new record with a run of 4.079 seconds. In the Down and Dirty Unlimited Bog division the record was broken three times with Denny Kerley in Snoot setting the final time with a 3.514 seconds. New York’s Kelly Odell in Under Pressure returned from his record setting runs during the June mud bog to lower the record once again in the James River Equipment X Cut division with a blistering 2.089 second run. Overall 86 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 172 registered passes. Winners in each class: Super Stock A – Derek Adkins in Bad Mannerz; Super Stock B – Kyle Slaughter in Step-A-Side; Modified A – Trey Moody in Barely Legal; Modified B – Brian Vick in Pick Pocket; Pro Mod A – Kevin Click; Pro Mod B – Denny Kerley in Snoot; Unlimited Bog – Denny Kerley in Snoot; X Class & XX Class – Kelly Odell in Under Pressure. Jamaica, VA – A hot and humid afternoon led to some great mud bogging at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 8th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment saw four division records broken during the days competition. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Kalbone’s Speed & Off Road, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. The great crowd was treated to some incredible runs in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. The day of setting new records also spilled over to the competitors, as several division records were broken during competition. In all four division track records were broken. Heading into the competition E&E Caulking sponsored the Tapole’s Break the Record Challenge which paid out an additional $100 bonus to break a record. In the Aaron’s Pro Mod B division Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time set a new record with a run of 4.211 seconds that ended in a spectacular crash at the end. Crowder would emerge unhurt. In the Down and Dirty Unlimited Bog division The Pit’s “Fastest Woman” proved again she is fast with a record setting 3.802 second run. The James River Equipment X Cut and Victory Lap XX Paddle dragster divisions were dominated by New York’s Kelly Odell as he set the fastest pass ever in the history of The Pit with a 1.987 second run in the XX Paddle’s. Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature tried to dampen the spirits of those in attendance with cold and rainy weather for 10th Annual Down & Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment, the Virginia National Guard and RedNex Sporting at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway, but everyone in attendance was treated to one of the best shows in the ten year history of the facility. Jamaica, VA – What looked to be a rainy day turned into a great afternoon for mud bogging at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 5th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment, the Virginia National Guard and RedNex Sporting goods set records in both fan attendance and competitor participation. The event was also sponsored by Monster Energy Drinks, Kalbones Speed Shop & Offroad, Aaron’s, Collision One, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, ORI of Richmond and Truckin Thunder. The huge crowd was treated to some great action in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. The day of setting new records also spilled over to the competitors, as several division records were broken during competition. In the After Hours Fabrication Stock B class Tanya “Mudiva” Ricks in Hell on Heels set a new class record with a pass of 5.703 seconds, breaking a record that has stood since 2008. In the Kalbones Speed Shop & Offroad Modified B class Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas set a new class record with a run of 4.270 seconds, besting a record that had set in 2010. In the new Monster Energy Drink Pro Mod B class Ricky Crowder in Muddy Money set a new track with a pass of 4.313 seconds.
